this month and every month
Dearest Yarnbirds,
June is Pride month. A time to celebrate and lift the voices of the LGBTQ+ in our community.

Wondering 'What's yarn got to do with it?' - Our team and our community include those who identify as LGBTQ+, this is personal. It's important to us that at a time when proposed legislation across the country marginalizes and excludes LGBTQ+ communities, we stand firm in our commitment that Birdhouse is a community where all are welcome, that those who are LGBTQ+ feel comfortable and secure when they enter Birdhouse.

We're lucky here in Tucson, we get multiple months to officially engage in Pride, the international month - June and September, when the temperatures drop enough to have a parade. Of course, celebrating diversity and inclusion is something we believe in every day of the year. Thank you for helping our community be one that embraces diversity and inclusion.
Thank you for being part of our community
In fiber love unity,
Holly, Sam, Tina, Harriet, Delaney and Rachel

WORLD WIDE KNIT & CROCHET IN PUBLIC DAY - JUNE 10
Image item
Celebrate your passion for knitting and crochet with fellow yarn artists Saturday, June 10th on World Wide Knit and Crochet in Public Day. You can be a beginner or maybe you have been doing the fiber thing for years – everybody is welcome! We knit and crochet in public and share each others company. This year, Birdhouse Yarns is hosting a Knit and Crochet in Public event at the very awesome Tumerico from 3-5pm. Tumerico is an amazing restaurant just a few doors down from Birdhouse. The chef, Wendy Garcia, was recently a James Beard semi-finalist and Tumerico is listed as the number 1 place to eat in the Southwest on Yelp! Tumerico will be creating a lovely buffet for us to indulge in while we get our fiber art on. You must make your reservation and pay by Saturday, June 3rd.
SWEET PATTERNS THAT CAUGHT OUR EYE THIS WEEK

Developed by Megan Lapp aka Crafty Intentions, this pattern is for a (optionally hanging!) Pride Planter Cozies pattern!! This pattern is written in U.S. terminology.

Well, why not! It's adorable.

Pride Flagpole Wrap by Jessica Ryan
Let's go yarn bombing! Support the LGBTQIA+ community with a crocheted take on the progress pride flag! This flag works up quickly and easily for any crocheter. With a bit of a twist, the progress pride flag has been altered so that all colors can be visible when wrapped around a pole, adding a pop of color and a message of inclusivity to your community.

This top-down sock pattern includes an afterthought heel to accomplish this, and also has a mini-gusset to provide a little more room in the heel. Otherwise, this pattern is perfectly mindless knitting.

The hat is designed to be worn with negative ease, and the nature of corrugated ribbing and stockinette is that it will pull in quite a bit so keep the floats loose! The designer is donating all profits to the Trevor Project.

This would be a great shawl to use some of the Smooshy mini skeins we have in the shop. Marled (two colors held together to create a smooth transition between colors, this parallelogram scarf is a quick knit, using mini skeins or leftover bits!
