Hi friends,

Many of you are receiving my newsletter 📩 for the first time, so I would like to welcome you here!

This weekly newsletter, which I launched in December 2020 and sent out without fail every single week, includes five sparks that will ignite insight and motivation fireworks for your new workweek. Get ready to be inspired and to take action on your goals.

This email is issue #131 of the Sunday Spark, and I am so happy you are here. Here is the archive of the first 100 newsletters.

Today I want to express my gratitude for the looong month of May, which witnessed remarkable growth in my work, such as seeing many more of you here on my email list.

This success led me to reflect on the factors that contributed to it. One key secret to my achievement was the decision to work at a coffeehouse instead of my home office while the kids were at school almost every Saturday.

Changing the environment helped me focus and achieve amazing progress in preparing for this workshop. No wonder we discuss the impact of the environment on our behavior extensively in the Habits Course.

Try this magic trick for your important projects: Work away from home. Change your environment to avoid the allure of midday naps or undone chores!

Note: Noise-cancellation headphones are recommended.

P.S.:Happy new month! Check my gifts below, and remember to do your monthly review.

Here is your weekly dose of The Sunday Spark ⚡️ a newsletter listing 5 insightful things I thought were worth starting your week with:

1. 🎙️ You asked for it, and here it is! I've created a podcast episode on Procrastination based on popular demand. Don't delay, give it a listen now!  (I couldn't resist saying it). And guess what? It's not a time management problem, I reveal the secret in the episode! ⏳

2. 📚 As promised, here are two recommended books on procrastination from subject-matter professors who have studied it for over 20 years:"Solving the Procrastination Puzzle" and "Procrastination: What It Is, Why It's a Problem, and What You Can Do About It."

3. 🎁 Your monthly gift is here! Download your June Habit Tracker customized to your workweek (Your week starts on: Sunday, Monday) and June calendar, to help you plan the month well, both designed by yours truly. Let's make every week a fresh start! 🗓️

5. 💭 A favorite quote from Sovling the Procrastination Puzzle book:

“To author our own lives, we have to be an active agent in our lives, not a passive participant making excuses for what we are not doing. When we learn to stop needless, voluntary delay in our lives, we live more fully.”
―Timothy A. Pychyl

(Thank you Readwise for helping me find this quote from a book I read)

Some cool resources I personally use, love and recommend, with discounts just for you:

  1. I like to start the day with my personalized Momentum Plus tab, which helps me stay focused with a powerful mantra, an inspiring image, a to-do list, countdowns to big dates, and world clocks where I keep an eye on time zones of friends and family living abroad before contacting them. Being a newsletter friend, you would get a special offer of a 10% discount when you subscribe to Momentum Plus with the promo code: bardees.
  2. Enjoy a free month of the Readwise app, it is the BEST way to retain the knowledge you gain through reading. Using spaced repetition, it helps you remember your highlights from kindle books/articles you read. I am in love with their new reader feature. Reading online has become a top-notch experience thanks to Reader. Get one month free using my link.
  3. I have been using Exist App for years as a digital journaling tool to track my mood in relation to my productivity and health choices. Try it out.
  4. I use Rescuetime to track my digital productivity. Rescuetime tells me how much I spend on email, Excel sheets, meetings, and nonwork activities. I have been a happy client since 2014.
