Hi friends,
I can't believe this is the last week of school!
I honestly feel the quote of Gretchen Rubin more than ever:
"The days are long, but the years are short."
This school semester flew by after Ramadan! Do you feel the same?
My aim for this last week is to ensure we all have smooth and happy mornings because studies say humans tend to remember the last of experiences more than their beginnings or middle. Remember the most trip you had? You probably judge it by how well or poorly it ended.
Let's hope my kids will forget those days we used to get stuck in traffic because we were late to leave the house.
I plan the same for our evenings, where we study nicely for the final exams.
I am happy that my fourth grader has depended more on herself this year, I only prepare quizzes and print out worksheets for her to practice with their correct answers, and she corrects her answers afterward. As for my first grader, he's s a January kid who is advanced compared to his class in most subjects and thinks he knows it all (I know, I know), and his passion is to finish fast. Do you have a kid like him?
I have a tip that might help you in preparing science quizzes for your kids, as they might need to memorize more material than other subjects:
- I (dictate) the science lesson, which is a nice feature in the Office 365 version of Microsoft Word. You can use the (Speech to Text) feature on your phone's keyboard for the same purpose.
- While dictating, I say "blank" for the information I need to make sure my daughter knows.
- After I finish, I use the (replace) feature in Microsoft Word, where I replace the word "blank" with a line like this "———" to be filled by my daughter.
- After she solves the quiz, she can check the book for answers, which is another reason for her to study the book.
It is not an easy tip, but it works for this level since textbooks are not too dense yet.
I hope it helps some of you.
