Hi First name / friend,

When I started this newsletter project in March 2022, I was hungry for a new outlet. I wanted a place to explore home in a broader way, beyond ‘watch me build a bookshelf’ content.

A Place to Call Home has given me so much more — from chatting with y’all in article club and experimental design office hours, to reading your replies to the newsletter, chatting in the dms and beyond, this community is so special to me.

And because y’all are so special, I want to treat this community with care! You’ve probably seen that I plan to move APTCH to Substack. I think there’s a ton of value there, particularly with commenting and other features, and I love the idea of evolving it into a place that celebrates the good — a love letter to cities big and small, if you will.

But I’m not ready.

This past semester and honestly, this season of life, have left me feeling wrung out. Beyond burnout, I keep getting physically sick. I’m trying to do a better job of listening to my body.

So I’ve decided to pause. I want to give myself the opportunity to tap back into my creative spark. I want to make space for personal exploration, to make things that are just for me, to immerse myself in my summer internship and have little else to worry about (except planning our wedding, which is… a beast).

As of today, APTCH will be on pause. Everyone’s memberships will automatically be cancelled through our platform, MemberSpace. You can access all past editions of the newsletter here. If you have any questions about this, please reach out.

When we do get going on Substack, you’ll be the first to know! Things will be a little different over there (I’m planning to have separate free and paid tiers, as well as larger community interaction features), but like, good-different.

Lastly, I just want to say thank you. Your presence in this community supported me through grad school thus far — financially, mentally, and in other ways. 🤎

If APTCH made you curious or helped you learn something new or got you thinking about home in a new way, I’d love to hear about it! (Like seriously, please reply to this email lol.)

With so much love, and until next time,
Dominique
