Hi First name / there,
Koshas are like onions because they represent layers - from outermost and tangible to innermost and subtle.
Understanding the power and impact of each layer promotes balance and stability and improves your holistic healing capacity and quality of life.
Let’s dig into each of the 5 Koshas and how they relate to holistic healing:
Annamaya Kosha - The physical body
The only physical or tangible Kosha maintains basic survival based on whatever you can hear, see, feel, taste, and touch.
BALANCE IT with constitutional nutrition, self-massage, yoga asana and other forms of mindful exercise to create a stronger connection and sense of awareness.
Pranamaya Kosha - The breath body
This Kosha activates various physical activities, both conscious and subconscious. It sustains vitality, stamina, and energy.
BALANCE IT with mindful meditation and regular yogic breathwork to keep the life-giving force flowing smoothly.
Manomaya Kosha - The mind
This layer influences our thinking habits and sensory experience. It manages essential cognitive functions like logic and memory.
BALANCE IT through meditation, breathwork, and positive affirmations to think, feel, and act with greater intention.
Vijnanamaya Kosha - The higher intelligence
This layer enables us to establish intellect and leverage intuition into wisdom and morality. It is responsible for spiritual growth and connecting with the universe on a deeper level.
BALANCE IT through regular meditation, philosophical discussions, reading, and building a positive, nurturing community.
Anandamaya Kosha - The soul or higher Self within
Also called “the bliss Kosha,” this is the closest to the divine. Here, technical definitions are insufficient, and the experience of felt bliss takes over to dominate awareness.
BALANCE IT by caring for others, journaling, pursuing your true purpose, and doing what you love.
