I hope everyone had a safe and fun 4th of July. We're excited about our Summer Movie Series in the Parks and we're looking forward to a great lineup of family-friendly films. Grab your blanket and snacks and enjoy! June was an eventful month as we cut the ribbon on the Good Neighbor Club at the College Park Auditorium. Thanks to support from the Atlanta Hawks and State Farm, we have a newly-renovated facility, ready to welcome sporting and community events. These types of partnerships are integral as we continue to make strides in our city. College Park was well-represented in Savannah for the Georgia Municipal Association’s annual convention. The conference was an excellent opportunity to learn about best practices across the state to address the challenges cities face. With 537 cities in Georgia, there is a lot to learn from our peers. All of your elected officials and several staff members got the opportunity to take classes, learn from panel discussions and bring back innovative ideas to move College Park forward. I was honored to assume a new leadership role for GMA, now serving as Second Vice President. As we deal with very hot and humid conditions, please make sure you are doing what you and your family need to do to stay safe. We opened our cooling station at the Public Safety Complex on several occasions last week and will not hesitate to do so if conditions warrant in the future. We are here to support and serve! |
