Welcome a Gemini New Moon. Ruled by Mercury and represented by the twins, Gemini governs everything communication, versatility, rapid thoughts, our logical mind, and our ability to create, honor, and uphold duality — all crucial factors of this new lunar cycle.

Alongside the Sun and Moon in Gemini, we'll get into Neptune and Saturn, two major planetary players who are giving us opportunities to pivot right now. Let's get into the details and how we can best navigate all of this cosmic energy for healing, mind, body, soul self-care, and divine alignment.
Let's break down the energetic opportunities at hand and what to be mindful of on our daily journeys…

The Sun and New Moon align in Gemini.

Ruling the third astrological house of the mind, communication of all kinds, and social activity, Gemini season has helped us more clearly put into words exactly what our spiritual outlook is.

During Aries' fire season, we got a spark that either burned down what we didn't need or started a fire for us. In Taurus season, we got grounded and tended to our fire to make it more sustainable, and in Gemini season, that fire sends smoke signals for us. Geminis are the chatterboxes and social butterflies of the zodiac, and the third house also covers siblings, neighborhoods, local travel, libraries, schools, teachers, and community affairs, so ask yourself:

How have these themes come up for me in the past few weeks?

Typically, a New Moon in Gemini would normally inspire us to use our intellect and reasoning abilities to set goals for the new lunar cycle. But because the Sun and Moon are in very tense aspect to Neptune, the planet of intuition, spirituality, and delusion, we're poised to do otherwise.

Neptune's influence is spiritual and creative, suggesting that we rely on our intuitive awareness instead of our rational minds. As a result, these next few days may feel confusing instead of enlightening, especially if you're someone who relies on their logic to make decisions. It may be difficult to focus or concentrate on practical things, dreams may be more vivid than usual, and even feel more real than real life. Keep up with your mind, body, and spirit routines and ground yourself in the present, and what you're working towards in the future.

Don't get lost in the escapist tendencies of Neptune. Do make time and space to daydream and see what insights you get from the other side. Even though this may not be a New Moon to set intentions or do rituals with, it's still powerful and loaded with energy that could bring forward even more powerful information.

It's important to remember that Gemini New Moons also probes us to see and honor the duality in all things, especially as we call for clarity and start to receive it. If you don't humanly like the clarity you're receiving, ask yourself:

Would you rather have a bleek and comfortable existence or one that's unknown but more vibrant and magical than you could ever imagine?

Choose with your soul, not your head.

What it means for us: Saturn stations retrograde.

In astrology, retrogrades are often linked with confusion, drama, and distraction. But this cosmic phenomenon where a planet orbits slower than usual has much more depth than what meets the eye.

On Saturday (also Saturn Day!), Saturn, the planet of karma, restriction, rules, and responsibility, stations retrograde in Pisces, where it's been since March. In March, I introduced us to the phenomenon that is Saturn in Pisces, sharing details about how it moved out of Aquarius and into Pisces, closing a 2.5-year cycle of self-mastery through personal revolution, and starting a new cycle of self-mastery through spiritual discipline, creativity, and deepening and embodying our intuitive power.

When any planet goes retrograde and moves slowly in the cosmos, its energy turns inward, probing us to do the same. Saturn in Pisces is on a mission to reconstruct the world, replacing its foundations with Pisces' flowy, deeply spiritual, emotional, and empathic energy. We're in the middle of this 2ish year process of not restricting our dreaming but dreaming more effectively for the future we want to experience, personally and collectively.

Saturn is in Pisces until May 2025, so it's important to have patience with things that seems to slow or stall. If they do, it's probably because there are cracks in the foundation to pay attention to.

Look at what astrological house Saturn occupies in your birth chart and consider what spiritual discipline and creativity would look like in that realm of your life. You won't feel this energy directly right away, and probably not at all unless you reflect on it, so it's worth asking yourself:
  • What does dreaming more effectively mean to me now?
  • What spiritual discipline am I being encouraged to adopt?

What it means for us: The Sun moves into Cancer on June 21st which also marks the Summer Solstice!

On June 21st, we'll experience two significant energy shifts. First, the Sun will shift into water sign Cancer. Hello Cancer season, babes! (I'm a Gemini Sun, but a Cancer Moon and Rising, so it's my season all over again! Ahaaaa!)

Represented by the protective crab, when in its shadow, Cancer *can* be crabby, but it's also deep, intuitive, and embodies the mother archetype. Its energy is all about mothers and children, empathy, home, nurturing, and safety. It represents the fourth astrological house of home, roots, family, self-care, emotions, foundations, mothers and children, and femininity. These are themes that will be ignited in this new season.

Also occurring on June 21st is the Solstice! As the Earth's tilt reaches its zenith, the southern hemisphere aligns with its Winter Solstice and the northern hemisphere with the Summer Solstice. The Solstice brings a change in season and a shift in light where the Sun's energy – associated with our vitality, identity, and ego – is at its peak.

With the Sun at its brightest, highest, and most potent, it is the longest day of the year. Energetically, it represents a time of increased power and motivation too. As the light of the Universe comes to culmination, so do we. Historically, it's been upheld as a time when we can harness its energy for transformation and manifest abundance, growth, and renewal. We have a choice. To work with the light or intend to remember that we are the light.

As a reminder, I'm hosting a powerful Summer Solstice Kundalini Yoga Portal with virtual spots available for you to join us. The New Moon Kundalini Yoga portals I've been holding space for since March have been ultra-powerful doorways for transmutation and intention. If you want to make the most of the Solstice's energy and beam intentions of alignment, pleasure, and abundance to the Universe, listen to the call. Visit melaniesantos.co/events to register.

Let's talk about self-care.

Our minds are already on a fast track right now, so I'm going to keep this brief:
  1. Make time to rest your logical mind.
  2. Give yourself pause, do things that help you "power down"
  3. Allow yourself time to dream
Pay attention to what you're most dreaming about, write them somewhere safe to examine at another time, and r e s t . An overpowered mind will burn out quickly, and you'll need all the energy you can get for the Solstice.

All zodiac signs rule parts of the body, and Gemini governs our hands, arms, and lungs. All of these body parts point to none other than meditation, so again, make sure you make space to tap into yourself so that you can receive the clarity the Universe is sending you. You know that I have a bunch of guided meditations on my Instagram account, but I recently put out one that's perfect for this dreamy time. Click here to tap in.

Sending you love, be easy, don't think too hard, and I hope the Solstice lights up the parts of your life that need the Sun's energy the most.
If you have any questions or insights, reply with a note, but know that this email was sealed with the highest of healing intentions.

Stay safe. Stay intentional. Sending love from NYC. 💜 MS.

You can find your birth or natal chart for free onlineI like using Chani Nicholas' chart generator on her website. Once you have your chart in front of you, locate the zodiac signs that pertain to this moment's astrology (the sign the Sun and Moon are in) and look at the number of the section they're in. That would be the astrological house you're looking for. You can Google “astrological houses" to get an accurate breakdown of what each means, but here is a breakdown you can use now via AstroStyle

Above is an example of Virgo being in the 9th House of travel, wisdom, philosophy, learning, and ethics, and Pisces being in the 3rd House of thinking, communication, early education, interests, neighbors, and siblings.

Knowing the houses makes all the difference in the energy and focus you can bring your intentions.
