News of the missing OceanGate Titan Submersible this week has reignited antisemitic conspiracy theories that the Rothschild family purposefully sunk the Titanic.
Conversations on social media this week suggested the Rothschilds were responsible for the Titanic wreck, which the Titan Submersible was seeking to explore, to eliminate those opposed to the creation of the U.S. Federal Reserve System who were on board the ship.
Other conspiracists speculated that the Rothschilds were also responsible for the Titan Submersible disappearance, noting that David Mayer de Rothschild, a member of the family, has been a board member of OceanGate since 2012.
The Rothschilds are commonly used as a generic dog whistle to claim Jews are in control of theU.S. Federal Reserve System and, in effect, control all the money in the world.

Seann Patrick Pietila was arrested last Friday and charged with transmitting a threat to commit a mass casualty event at the Shaarey Zedek Congregation in East Lansing, Mich. The charges come after Pietila, 19, allegedly posted threats on Instagram and praised neo-Nazi ideologies, antisemitism, and glorified mass shootings. Pietila was planning to commit his attack on the anniversary of the 2019 Christchurch attack, when a white supremacist entered a New Zealand mosque and killed 51 worshippers. After being alerted to the threats, the FBI arrested Pietila and discovered weapons, tactical gear, a Nazi flag, and a detailed plan of an attack on Shaarey Zedek at his home.
People expressed shock and outrage on social media over the planning of another potential attack. News of Pietila's arrest came on the same day as the conviction of Robert Bowers for the 2018 attack on the Tree of Life synagogue in Pittsburgh, the deadliest antisemitic attack in U.S. history. Many people highlighted the fact that both individuals broadcasted their intentions on social media, noting a troubling trend.

FCAS is actively monitoring an increase in antisemitic flyer distribution after numerous flyers were discovered over the past week. Hateful flyers were distributed across the country, from Pennsylvania to California, with notable incidents in Kennesaw, Ga., St. Louis, Mo., Fry’s Spring, Va., and Cobb County, Ga.. White supremacist groups, including the Goyim Defense League and Ku Klux Klan, distributed flyers that identify Jewish leaders in government, businesses, and social movements, include website links to hate groups, and tout phrases like “White Lives Matter.”
Many of the flyers attacked the Black and LGBTQ communities as well, incorporating Pride Month and Juneteenth into their messaging and referencing Defiant, a video that claims Jews are using Black people to replace White people in the United States.
Multiple organizations condemned the flyers and the antisemitic, racist, and homophobic hate. The rise in flyer distribution did not contribute to online conversations about antisemitism, with mentions of these incidents accounting for less than 1% of overall conversation about antisemitism. Join the discussion online using #StandUpToJewishHate and adding #🟦 to your posts to spread awareness and stand up against these hateful incidents.
