It has been a hot minute since I have talked with you all!! I am all moved into my new place and I love it! Audriana has adjusted nicely, however, Ziva The Diva has not. She is hiding under my bed where she feels safe and comes out briefly throughout the day, but then retreats back under the bed. I am trying different things to get her more comfortable and hopefully she will start feeling more at ease here. We will see!
Now on to business: This week at the Glam Budget Lifestyle, I have started publishing blog posts again and I have been working on my online boutique this week as well! RECIPE OF THE WEEK
Tamale Casserole
This tamale casserole is budget friendly (who doesn’t like a good home cooked meal that’s inexpensive to make), easy to prepare and your family will love it!! Here’s how to make it:
INGREDIENTS:
1/2 lb. Ground Turkey (or ground beef or ground chicken)
1 15 oz. Can Pinto Beans (drained & rinsed)
1 15 oz. Can Corn (drained)
1 10 oz. Can Red Enchilada Sauce
1 8.5 oz. Box Corn Muffin Mix (any brand)
2 tbs. Taco Seasoning (any brand)
1/3 cup water
4 oz. Shredded Cheddar Cheese
DIRECTIONS: (Prep Time: 15min. Total Time: 35min. Serves: 5)
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
To a skillet, add ground turkey and break it up and cook through.
In a large bowl, add the cooked ground turkey, pinto beans, corn, red enchilada sauce, corn muffin mix, taco seasoning, water and stir well.
Spray a 9×13 baking dish with non-stick spray, add the casserole mixture and spread it out. Sprinkle the top with the shredded cheese and bake for 30-35 minutes.
Top with your favorite taco toppings and enjoy!

Hello Friends!!
It's great to be back barking with all of you! We are moved into our new place and I love it! I can look out the sliding glass door and see people walking by, some with dogs and I can hear everything going on outside now and I make sure that I bark loudly when I hear something or see someone passing by and that makes mama crazy, but you all know, I DON'T CARE!!!! I am a dog and barking is what I do!
In other news, it's really starting to heat up around here!! Starting today, we are under an “Excessive Heat Warning” that should end Monday night! The temps will be 112 and above (like 117, really!!). So, I thought I would share some tips about dogs and heat!
Dogs and Heat: Know The Danger Signs
This summer has already broken heat records across the country, and we are only halfway through. Dogs have unique needs when it comes to heat and cooling, so it is important to understand when a dog is experiencing heat exhaustion, and what to do, so here are 5 signs that your dog is overheating:
Excessive Panting: Dogs cool themselves by panting. If your dog is panting a lot, they may be getting too hot (please note that this is doubly true for any flat-faced breed such as pugs or bulldogs).
Fast or Irregular Heartbeat: A dog's heart may try to compensate by getting the blood going to extremities.
Lethargy: Especially if your dog is having trouble with waking or standing, this is a big red flag.
Vomiting/Diarrhea: Overheating can cause gastrointestinal upset.
Collapse: If your dog collapses or has any neurological signs, this is an emergency.
If you find yourself with an overheating dog, immediately get them to a cooler area and you can wash them with cool (NOT cold) water. You can use a fan and offer water. If your dog does not cool down or they exhibit collapse or any neurological signs, it is time to get them to the emergency room as it may be more than you can treat at home. That being said, any time a dog overheats can be life threatening, so a check with your vet may be warranted.

Hello Friends!!
I am glad to be back meowing with all of you again! It has been busy the last few weeks with moving and settling in our new place. Everyone seems to be comfortable here now, except me. I hide under the bed most of the time, but I have been coming out a little more lately. I am not eating like I used to since moving and that's becoming a concern around here. I am sure I will be taking a trip to the vet very soon for a checkup to make sure I am okay. It's rough being 16 years old, but I keep on going!
In other news, it's getting really hot outside! Thank goodness I am not looking to hang out on the patio! I would burn up MOL!!! I stay inside where the A/C is on, but Mama has to take Audriana out for her potty breaks throughout the day even in the hottest of temperatures, but mama makes sure that she is out for a very short time then carries her back home. I am looking forward to the arrival of fall so I can lounge out on the patio again!!
