Let's break down the energetic opportunities at hand and what to be mindful of on our daily journeys…
The Full Moon in Capricorn opposes the Sun in Cancer.
We're about a week and a half into Cancer season. Ruled by the moon and representing the fourth astrological house, the Sun in Cancer brings focus to our home, roots, family, self-care, emotions, foundations, motherhood, and femininity.
The Sun opposes the Full Moon in Capricorn. Eearth sign Capricorn represents the 10th astrological house, which puts a spotlight on our career, long-term, goals, reputation, masculinity, and fatherhood.
Energetically, the opposition between the Sun in Cancer and the Full Moon in Capricorn pertains to balance and finding harmony between both sides of our lives. Our personal life, home, and family needs (represented by Cancer), and our professional/career life, reputation, and responsibilities (represented by Capricorn). Our origins and foundations against our future. Where we come from, as opposed to where we want to go. Our feminine flow and ability to be, and our masculine side, our action, and ability to do.
Ask yourself:
- When I think about my personal life and family origins, and my work and what I want to do in my life, what comes into perspective?
- How do these themes appear in my life, and what are they telling me about what I need to release to create harmony?
- Am I doing more than I am giving myself time to be or vice versa? What do I need to remove and/or add to my routines for more balance?
Think back to the New Moon in Capricorn that perfected six months ago on December 23rd, just two days after the Solstice. Who were you then? What life were you living? What life were you envisioning? What intentions were you focused on projecting into the Universe?
Let that information settle and clarify who you are now, the life you envision for yourself, and the intentions you should be focused on projecting. Most of all, show yourself some gratitude for any and all growth that you've made.
Speaking of gratitude…
What it means for us: Full Moon trines Jupiter.
On Saturday, July 1st, the Sun and planet of communication Mercury make a sextile to Jupiter, the planet of expansion and luck. This energy is that of your life taking a deep, grateful breath. Like everything clicking for just one moment, even if the details don't necessarily make sense. You know where and who you are and are grateful for the journey, even if you know there's much to go.
And then, after the Full Moon perfects, it comes into beautiful contact with the lucky, generous giant that is Jupiter.
If things have been tough for you, breathe in the waves of faith and optimism. If things have been going well for you, breathe in the expansion that's in, around, and filling your atmosphere. And if things have been great for you, then breathe in gratitude. Jupiter will not only expand your emotions and thoughts, but it will also do so in a way that opens your aura like a portal for more good.
We know that Full Moon energy is generally potent for release, but it doesn't mean your rituals and intentions have to be dredged in negativity. It's been a while since I reminded you that you want to aim for the opposite. So if and when you set Full Moon intentions, do so with mega gratitude for what's to come.
What it means for us: The Full Moon opposes Mercury in Cancer
Mercury shifted into Cancer on June 26th, remaining until July 10th. During its time in watery Cancer, Mercury's energy will imbue everything with very emotional qualities. This is the mind opposing the heart, so if it's already been difficult to make sense of what's happening within you and where it's coming from, this might be why.
The best way to care for ourselves is to check in often and pause and reflect as needed. The best way we can take care of ourselves and our community is by pausing before responding and being honest about when we don't have the capacity to respond or act yet or at all.
I recently posted a video on social media that dives along these lines. I had a conversation with my therapist this week about turning daggers into petals, a metaphor that comes from the story of the Buddha and how he defeated the demon Mara. Mara did their best to distract the Buddha, but when the demon tried to harm the Buddha with daggers, they turned into flower petals in the Buddha's enlightened aura.
If the demon Mara represents our triggers, we could be represented by the Buddha if we respond consciously. You don't have to be enlightened to say no, step away, or react in a different way than you have to something or someone.
Although confusing, this Full Moon opposition to Mercury gives us a chance to rewrite our patterns, to respond with the wisdom of the versions of us that we're setting intentions to align with.
