Hi friends, From a lovely vacation to a simple Birthday celebration, my brother's wedding preparations, the excitement of pre-wedding parties 💃, and trying out Threads, that's how my July has been going! 😊 How about you? I'm curious to know how your July has been shaping up. Are you enjoying a peaceful and relaxing time, or have you been busy with your own set of adventures? Here is your weekly dose of The Sunday Spark ⚡️ a newsletter listing 5 insightful things I thought were worth starting your week with: |
1. 🌟 When you travel with a big group, you might find yourself not agreeing on the activities of the day, and you may forget it's all about spending a good time together; this timely reading (TURN HAVE TO INTO GET TO) from The Daily Stoic helped me remember that and enjoy my time even more: " Today, don't try to impose your will on the world. Instead see yourself as fortunate to receive and respond to the will in the world." |
2. 📝 I know you love personality assessments like me, so here is the Wholehearted assessment that Brené Brown created for the readers of her book ( The Gifts of Imperfection). I read this book in 2015; it is at the top of my recommended books list. My advice: Do the quiz before you read the book. My results show I need to work more on letting go of being "Always in Control." Ahem! |
4. 🎂 Happy Birthday to my #1 mentor Seth Godin who celebrated his 63rd Birthday yesterday. I almost read all of Seth's books, this one was a turning point. Here is one of his best blog posts which he wrote in 2008: Email Checklist; I wonder if he changed his mind about point #25 because I love to sprinkle one of those occasionally in my emails 😉. |
5. 💭 Your quote of the week: |
“Every no I say is a yes to myself. It feels right to me. People don’t have to guess what I want and don’t want, and I don’t need to pretend. When you’re honest about your yeses and noes, it’s easy to live a kind life.” ― Byron Katie |
