Welcome to the St. John Vianney community, First name / friend!
As a family registered to attend SJV for the first time in the 2023/2024 school year, we want to take a moment to introduce ourselves and share some details that may be helpful to you this summer as you prepare for the new school year.
We are the Chair of SJV Home & School, Liz Prudlow, and Vice Chair of SJV Home & School, Ruth Herrle. We are SO excited for you to be part of our school community and we are SO grateful you chose SJV and Catholic education!
Liz and her husband Tim have two boys: Charlie (3rd grade in the fall) and Henry (K5 in the fall). Liz loves all things hospitality – cooking, baking, a perfect wine pairing. She also enjoys Cricut-ing, a great workout, and celebrating big and little moments. You will often find her in the SJV halls, office, classrooms or greeting students at morning dropoff.
Ruth and her husband Greg have two kids: Alma (2nd grade in the fall) and Norman (who looks forward to attending SJV K5 in 2024/2025). Ruth loves baking, sewing, running, reading, and learning new things. You will often find her in the halls, office, and faculty lounge at SJV.
This is the first of several emails you’ll receive from us this the summer. Our goal is to introduce you to the events, people, places, and how-tos of SJV so that you and your family can hit the ground running when school begins in August.
If you remember only two things from our emails, let it be these:
- We are so happy you’re here, and we can’t wait to meet you in person!
- There are no bad questions! You’ll find our photos and contact information below because we want you to reach out. If you’re curious or confused, someone else is too, and we’re here to help!
We don’t want to overwhelm you too much in this first email, so for now let’s stick with the calendar. Here are several SJV events happening during the rest of the summer that we think you’d enjoy and hope to see you at:
JULY
14: Food Truck Friday featuring Catrina Tacos and Live Music by Chris Casey from 5-8pm
26: Uniform Resale Bag Sale 3-7pm, enter the school at the doors nearest the Activity Center - Need uniform items for your incoming SJV student? Shop this once-a-year bag sale at the SJV Uniform Resale shop and get everything you can fit in a brown paper grocery bag for $5 (excludes jumpers and skirts).
28: Food Truck Friday featuring Scrima’s Pizza and Live Music by Pat Dillet from 5-8pm
AUGUST
11: Food Truck Friday featuring Clean Cuisine & Little Havana trucks as well as Live Music by Midnight Wine from 5-8pm
21: Popsicle Play Date 5-7pm
28: Back to School Bash 5-8pm - This is the final Food Truck Friday of the season, and the excitement is turned up a notch because school starts the following week. Join us to grab dinner from Tots on the Street & A&A Cafe trucks, yard games, playground time, and an outdoor movie. Bring lawn chairs or blankets for a comfortable movie experience! As always with Food Truck Friday, BYOB. Watch for a special appearance by the Oscar Meyer Weinermobile!
Uniform Resale Shop is open any time the school office is open (Mon-Thur 7:30-11:30am, most weeks); enter the school at the main office. Once-a-year bag sale date/time/description listed above.
We hope you and your family will be able to fit some SJV fun into your summer plans! Although it may seem intimidating to walk into one of these social events for the first time, we assure you they are filled with friendly families waiting to meet you! Food Truck Fridays are open to the public so feel free to invite your neighbors and friends to join!
