Dear friend,
It was a sweet month off, with a little extra family and adventure time. But we are so excited to open our doors back up today! Although it may not feel like it outside in our beautiful and HOT desert, summer is drawing to a close. Vacations are wrapping up and that means: back to school! We always feel inspired at this time of year and wanted to share a few back-to-school themed things we have on the brain!

I have always loved school. The feeling of getting everything together: organizing notebooks, ordering books, choosing back-to-school outfits. Even when I was a kid, I never dreaded going back to the classroom.
Besides enjoying the preparatory activities, I just loved having the opportunity to learn. I was one of the weirdos that would raise my hand all the time and spend extra time with the teacher. In retrospect, some of that probably had to do with my need to do well all the time. But that definitely wasn't all of it…
The ability to learn and grow is not confined to the classroom, but the classroom is a microcosm, if it is done properly. Learning to read and write in the early years sets the foundation for so much of our future. But back-to-school, for me, is a reminder of the mentality that should accompany those elementary skills: there is always more to learn, there is always room to grow, and I don't have it all figured out. True learning requires a sense of humility in our lack, and, ironically, that mentality paves the way to ameliorating that lack.
