Acts 16-21
The Lord Had Called Us for to Preach the Gospel
(July 24-30)

A note from Emily & David
In this lesson, we talk about Jesus Christ.  What would you teach someone about what you know of Christ?  How could you bring His words into your household?  Where could you preach the good news of His gospel?  We’re talking about keeping back nothing in this episode, it’s one of our favorite subjects.  This week we will be studying Acts 16-21.

Here are the segments you can look forward to:

This Week's Printable
This week we are pondering about what we know of Jesus Christ.

Teaching Tips for Kids
Ask your kids what they know of Jesus Christ.  Have them write one thing in each of the three boxes.

Teaching Tips for teens
Have your teenagers list their favorite scriptures of Jesus Christ.  If they don’t have one yet, give them time to search the topical guide until they find a few they are drawn to.  Then have them star their favorite one.

Teaching tips for individuals and couples
Take some time to consider what you know about Jesus Christ.  Which scriptures have been the most influential in teaching you about Him?  Make a list.

Also, if you are looking for the story from Joseph F Smith, you can find it here:
In the fall of 1857, the nineteen-year-old Joseph F. was returning from his mission in Hawaii, and in California he joined a wagon train. It was a volatile time for the Saints. Johnston’s Army was marching towards Utah, and many had bitter feelings towards the Church. One evening several hoodlums rode into camp, cursing and threatening to hurt every Mormon they could find. Most in the wagon train ran and hid in the brush. But Joseph F. thought to himself: “Shall I run from these fellows? Why should I fear them?” With that, he walked up to one of the intruders who, with pistol in hand, demanded, “Are you a Mormon?” Joseph F. Smith responded, “Yes siree; dyed in the wool; true blue, through and through.” At that, the hoodlum grasped his hand and said, “Well you are the [blankety-blank] pleasantest man I ever met! Shake hands, young fellow. I am glad to see a man that stands up for his convictions” (See Gospel Doctrine, 518).

Don't Miss This in the New Testament
Come Follow Me 2023 Study Tools
Maybe you know this about us by now, but we are both visual, hands on learners.  Because of that, we are always trying to discover study tools that will help bring the scriptures to life in your home.  We will be using several different study tools this year, here is what we love most about each of them:

Videos:
For the New Testament we will be recording all new hour long videos, but this year they will be broken into ten minute segments in case you want to watch them for ten minutes every weekday, or you can watch them all at once.  These videos are totally free and can be found on YouTube or on our APP.

Journal:
The journals for the next four years have been totally redesigned with a theme in mind.  You will find questions to ponder daily that can be used for teaching or family discussions.  There are workbook pages based off of our most favorite part of each lesson that week.  You can also use these workbook pages for lessons or discussion.  There will also be a space for recording one name of Jesus Christ each week.

Devotional Book:
Perfect for a 5-10 minute lesson, these books can be used as a devotional every day.  This book is designed for personal study or family study.  We love to use ours around the dinner or breakfast table.

Word a Week Posters:
Perfect for a three minute study, these posters include one word and one verse a week for pondering.  Hang them somewhere in your home where they will be a daily reminder of Come, Follow Me.  This year we will be studying one name of Jesus Christ found in that week’s lesson.  By the end of the year we will have come up with 52 names.

Tip Ins:
These are small papers that can be glued right in your scriptures with tips and truths that will help to improve your study.

Stickers:
Use these colorful stickers in the margins of your Scriptures or in your Don’t Miss This Daily study journal.

Hopefully these tools will make your scripture study something you look forward to!
