Client, Carol Doeringer's rhyming picture book, If You Wake a Skunk
was published by Sleeping Bear Press in April 2023. And she did it without an agent which is always a thrill.
I thought you'd like that.
Proof that publishers do like rhyming picture books. As long as your meter doesn't stink.

Keep an eye on her news and events for books signings, author visits and Skunkfest 2023. Yes, that's a thing and, if you're stinky enough, you might even be crowned Skunkfest King or Queen…

on my mind

If I were to ask you what you think writers struggle with most, what would you say?

It's simpler than you think.
It also has nothing to do with the actual craft of writing, and everything to do with knowing your kidlit stuff before you begin.

So, I've created two documents which will save you tons on editing and hours on revision called Kidlit Categories and Preaching & Teaching which you can download from my resource library.

All you have to do is click on the links, download the handouts and apply the information to your work.
Easy peasy.

Cloud appreciation is a thing. As it should be.

Clouds are ethereal. They're ever-changing, natural entertainment you can enjoy whenever you want. Just look up.
They can also be anything you want them to be. The sky's the limit…

Write a 50-word story or poem with a beginning, middle and end about some aspect of cloud-gazing.
No more than 50, mind.

Then send it to me and I'll pop it into the next newsletter. Or you can submit to the Cloud Appreciation Society. They publish cloud poetry people send in. Here's mine.
Why not yours?

Here's my favourite Instagram cloud account as inspiration.

If you know someone who'd enjoy a YAY, some free handy handouts and an invitation to stretch out on the grass and watch clouds pass by, share, share and be merry!
