Jason Werner and Holly Bettinger are the proud owners of Archetype12. Their inspiration stems from the belief that wine offers a profound reflection of one's self. With a background and passion for self-discovery and psychology, Jason recognized that when crafted skillfully, wine can provide a true representation of an individuals character.
The name Archetype12 and their wines uses a base model comprised of the 12 established Archetypes that collectively depict the whole of humanity. These primary Archetypes are further complemented by 48 Sub-Archetypes. These are central figures - at the heart of all stories, myths, and narratives - are capable of cutting through every race, religion, and language to foster shared understanding and community through the wines that bear their identities.

Currently, Archetype12 has wines embodying the Archetypes of  The Jester, The Citizen, The Sovereign, and the Explorer. Additionally, some Sub-Archetypes are also represented - The Hedonist, The Alchemist, and The Shapeshifter.

By associating specific Archetypes with different wines, Jason aims to capture the
multifaceted nature of both humans and wines. As individuals explore and
connect with Archetype12 releases, they can uncover reflections of their own
identities within the wines. Depending on their self-understanding and
acceptance, they should naturally gravitate towards certain releases that mirror
their own characteristics.
A12 is just as committed to sustainability as they are to community and, as such,
craft Piquettes (secondary pressings) to get the most out of every cluster of
grapes (or apples) we’re fortunate enough to get our hands on. Our most
popular is one called Mind Your P’s & Q’s, which is coming to bottle/can shops
near you soon! They also operate a sister cidery called Terroir Incognito
Community-Driven Libations. That project relies on urban-foraged
crowd-sourced fruit to craft experimental French-and Spanish-inspired ciders
and other experimental Libations.

2022 Rosé of Syrah
“The Jester”

Notes from the winemaker:
"Here’s to you, the impertinent trickster forcing others and even the world to lighten up. With an ability to bend perspective, twist meanings, and interpret events and people in surprising ways, you speak truth to power. Known for exuberant antics, you transcend tradition, convention, and societal norms based on a belief that life is a wild and crazy playground. Play on, you original, irreverent, and mischievous spirit, play on!

This vintage of The Jester is a light and playful rosé sourced from the Strand Vineyard produced in a saignée-style from old-vine Syrah. It stands in marked contrast to the traditional wizened and earthy Syrah produced alongside it. Perfectly paired with what will undoubtedly be a mischievous spring..."
