What’s a girl to wear? Especially when she's got the biggest Sri Lankan hit song, is the first Sri Lankan female singer with over three million YouTube subscribers, has performed with Indian superstars like Ranveer Singh, and has a million Instagram followers? For pop superstar Yohani, who is fearlessly taking her music global while sticking to her roots––it has got to be LOVI. 

 

As the headlining act for the Mrs. India Pageant in July, Yohani was inspired to wear a custom-embroidered LOVI Manike outfit to perform her chart-topping song 'Manike Mage Hithe'. Since 'Manike' is a Sinhalese term of endearment like 'sweetheart' or 'princess', it was the perfect choice for her first stage appearance in LOVI.

The jacket design was inspired by a similar one belonging to one of King Sri Wickrema Rajasinha's Queens. The embroidery on the sleeves is a diamond twill weave with a flower, its four petals and two drooping leaves. 

The ensemble was adorned with LOVI's signature crown and tens of thousands of sequins and stones, meticulously embroidered on velvet, featuring a traditional flower motif from the 19th Century Kandy dynasty.

Yohani was so happy with her Manike outfit, we were inspired to take the relationship to the next level. Yohani is now the official global ambassador for LOVI for her upcoming world tour, an opportunity to highlight the country’s rich heritage of design, craftsmanship and fashion on the world stage.
