From the Mayor's Desk
It’s hard to believe the summer is ending and it’s back to school time. There’s anticipation in the air as students return to classrooms. Although scholars won’t be in the building this academic year, work is well underway at the newly minted Promise Career Institute, located on Main Street. This building housed College Park High School and most recently Frank McClarin High School. Starting in August 2024, students will be able to earn not only a high school diploma, but two technical college certificates during their four years on campus. This school will serve as an important workforce development hub not only for College Park, but the entire southside.
August is also National Black Business Month. With so many to choose from in our great city, I would encourage you to support our fantastic local proprietors. We recently received recognition for some of our restaurants in the Atlanta Business Chronicle. The wider world is figuring out what we’ve already known – College Park is the place to be! Thrillist also named us one of the most exciting suburbs outside of Atlanta, noting our “historic downtown [that] offers lots to see and do.”
We have some exciting developments coming to Godby Road, including a walking trail sponsored by CleanSpark that will be completed in the coming months. As we continue to build the community we deserve, access to wellness options is key.

 WARD BY WARD
As summer bids farewell and a new school year dawns upon us, Councilman Clay fired up and celebrated the beginning of a fresh academic journey at Conley Recreation Center.

Councilman Carn is continuing his investment into community safety, at the City of College Park's Gun Buy Back event.
