Welcome August and welcome a Super Full Moon in Aquarius, the first of two Full Moons this month. Represented by the water bearer and ruled by unpredictable Uranus, Aquarius is an air sign that brings an energy of innovation and and is passionate about speaking up and taking action for the good of all. Opposing the fiery Sun in Leo, this lunation brings us awakenings of all kinds. Let’s get into the details and how we can best navigate current cosmic energy for healing, mind, body, soul self-care, and divine alignment.
Let's break down the energetic opportunities at hand and what to be mindful of on our daily journeys…

The Super Full Moon in Aquarius opposes the Sun in Leo.

Leo season! Shoutout to all the Leo Suns and Leo Risings! It's your season…but really, it's all of our season. Leo is a fire sign ruled by the Sun, characterized by its creativity, passion, and courageous energy, so we're being given the opportunity to awaken the lioness in all of us.

Leo rules the fifth astrological house, so themes of play, creativity, romance, joy, self-expression, and fertility (literally and figuratively) are highlighted for us right now. Ask yourself: How are these themes playing out in my life currently?

Opposing the Sun in Leo is the Super Full Moon in Aquarius – "super" meaning that the Moon is at its closest point to the Earth and will not only appear magnified, but will magnify its effects in our atmosphere.

This is the midway point of the lunar cycle that started with the New Moon in Cancer two weeks ago, a New Moon that brought focus to our home, roots, family, self-care, emotions, foundations, and femininity. Consider what clarity you were offered and what intentions you set then.

As the first of two Full Moons in August, this month, we should be focused on full circles and releasing intentionally so we can go into the Autumn equinox next month with clarity and direction.

As Aquarius is the progressive air sign, the humanitarian, the "know-it-all" (it's true) invested in the greater good of everything, a Full Moon like this intensifies our craving for authenticity, to be our true selves in the world. As a Super Moon opposing the Sun in Leo, the passionate sign of the self, that craving for authenticity aids us on our journey of healing and evolution.

We're poised to get a message that we need to receive right now, something that can help us course correct and shine our light to its fullest potential – something the Sun in Leo wants us to do. So pay attention now if you've been asking, praying, or intending for clarity.

As a reminder, the Universe sends messages of clarity in many diverse ways, many of which aren't pronounced as messages at all. For me, clarity sometimes shows up as the opposite. A reminder that I need to speak up and make clear decisions about what I want may come at a time when I'm swamped with tasks I don't want to do.

Rebellious and unexpected Uranus rules Aquarius, so what I'm saying is… don't turn your blessings away because you're offended or taken aback by something that showed up for you. What you need could come dressed in ways that don't make sense to you. Make time to check in with your ego so that you can spend less time taking things personally and more time receiving and integrating this moment of energy release.

Ask yourself:
  • What area(s) of my life would I like to gain clarity on? Am I truly open to receiving change there?
  • How have I been dimming my light?
  • Who, what, and where make me feel most welcome to shine my light? How can I make them a priority?

What it means for us: The Super Full Moon is perfecting in opposition to Venus Retrograde.

Venus, the planet of love, relationships, money, and beauty, is retrograding in fire sign Leo until September 3rd. We're more introspective and inwardly focused as unresolved issues, hidden matters, and unfinished business related to these themes are coming forward. And as it opposes the Full Moon in Aquarius, again, we're poised to get some clarity we need.

Our relationships, finances, values, and self-worth are under the spotlight, so again, don't take everything personally, but don't dismiss anything as chance, either. This moment is helping us review and purge the scripts we recite to ourselves and the roles we play in life. Although possibly uncomfortable, energy like this is profoundly transformative, especially as it relates to our values and how we can center them without compromising who we are and what we want.

To pinpoint precisely how Venus Rx affects you, look at your birth chart and what astrological house Leo rules. Those are the themes you should personally be reflecting on. (ie. Cancer Risings will have 2nd house themes come up for reflection, Gemini risings their 3rd house, Taurus risings their 4th house, etc.)
Let's talk about self-care.

Full Moons are generally chaotic, and we're all sensitive sentient beings, so if you're high on the sensitivity scale, this could be a weird time for you. Leo season makes us all feel like we have to be the main character which can be fabulous sometimes, but this is a reminder to make time to pause and cleanse and recollect your energy.

Do like Aquarius and stay connected to your core by doing things that affirm your mission, do like Leo and stay committed to shining your light, but the only way that you can do all of these things is by committing to the self-care routines that support your shine.

If you want to use the energy of the moment for aligned self-care, it could look like nourishing your inner lion cub and making time to play by moving your body or caring for your inner Aquarian by turning in to watch a doc about a cause you really care about. It's Summer in the Northern Hemisphere, so use the nature around you – everything is medicine! Just remember to hydrate and wear your SPF.

All zodiac signs rule parts of the body. Leo governs the heart, spine, and upper back, and Aquarius rules the circulatory system. Just like these two hold some of the most essential functions of our bodies, we're in charge of the most critical functions of our human existence. Let this moment remind you of your power and your light. Let it help you see and repair any leaks in your energetic field and how you've allowed these leaks. You are worthy of being fully and brilliantly who you are at every given moment. Affirm this now and forever.

When I think about my personal life and family origins, and my work and what I want to do in my life, what comes into perspective?

How do these themes appear in my life, and what are they telling me about what I need to release to create harmony?

Am I doing more than I am giving myself time to be or vice versa? What do I need to remove and/or add to my routines for more balance?

What daggers do I need to turn into petals in my life right now?

You can find your birth or natal chart for free onlineI like using Chani Nicholas' chart generator on her website. Once you have your chart in front of you, locate the zodiac signs that pertain to this moment's astrology (the sign the Sun and Moon are in) and look at the number of the section they're in. That would be the astrological house you're looking for. You can Google “astrological houses" to get an accurate breakdown of what each means, but here is a breakdown you can use now via AstroStyle

Above is an example of Virgo being in the 9th House of travel, wisdom, philosophy, learning, and ethics, and Pisces being in the 3rd House of thinking, communication, early education, interests, neighbors, and siblings.

Knowing the houses makes all the difference in the energy and focus you can bring your intentions.

release what no longer serves you
I wholly release any internal patterns that keep me from shining my light.

I gracefully release anything keeping me from living my authentic truth.

I gracefully release the past and present karmic patterns that keep me connected to people, places, things, habits, and mindsets that are out of alignment with my divine destiny.

I release the fear of the unknown future and trust that I am divinely supported, always and in all ways.
