Leading the Way in Compassion

Co-op has announced a new compassionate leave policy that provides flexibility for paid bereavement leave, doubling the number of days from 5 to 10 and allowing additional leave based on individual circumstances.

The policy recognises not just immediate family but the "closeness of the bond" that has been lost. This innovative approach aligns with research showing that most employees believe bereavement should be treated as a workplace issue, setting a precedent that encourages a more compassionate workplace culture across the UK.
