Ahoy!
We hope you’re enjoying a fantastic summer. If we haven’t connected in a while, please hit reply and share your latest news. Given how little we see the people we love, hearing your updates would make our day.

Speaking of updates, our family has some
huge news to share with you.

After years of dreaming and planning, we are excited to announce that we’re taking our adventures to the high seas!

Peter has left his corporate job to become a Pirate! Just kidding. Well, sort of.

While he looks like a pirate and kinda smells like a pirate, he’s not becoming a pirate. He’s left his position at Booz Allen Hamilton to become Captain of our five-person crew! We bought a beautiful 46-foot catamaran, named her Courage, and just embarked on a family journey around the world.

Twelve years ago, sitting on an airport floor in Tanzania, we started planning this adventure. Since then, we’ve juggled the conventional responsibilities of partnership and parenthood with our passions for living adventurously. We’ve dragged our kids through 23 countries! As a family, we’ve surfed, rock-climbed, sailed, skied, backpacked, camped, snorkeled, mountain biked, and summited mountains. We’ve visited countless museums, bonded with locals, and eaten a lifetime’s worth of ice cream. We saved, balanced, and never took our eyes off the prize. The prize = to stop juggling and adventure-travel full-time.

So here we are, roughly 600 budgeting disagreements later, exhausted from almost two years of relentless prep work,  and It’s time to get this party started!

On this adventure, we seek quality time together, opportunities to
stretch ourselves with physical challenges and fewer possessions,
the chance to provide our children with a family-led, creative, and hands-on education, a commitment to eco-conscious living, interactions to open our hearts and minds, and most importantly, a lot of fun!

We’re at the helm (somewhere between England and Spain), courageously steering to the life of our dreams. Well, Peter is steering, everyone else (except Cedar) is seasick, lying down, and trying to get comfortable on our new tilt-a-whirl.

While I anticipate magical moments like catching the perfect wave in Tahiti, I know there will also be moments when we worry about orcas treating our boat like an inflatable pool toy (today's concern as we cross the Bay of Biscay). There is also the obvious and inescapable challenge of five of us (and thousands of Legos) coexisting inside a floating studio-sized apartment.

Our content will include the ups and downs, the glory and the failures! We will push through habitual boundaries and discover what’s on the other side. You can join our journey, without the seasickness, on YouTube and Instagram. We will also send a monthly newsletter about where we’ve been and where we’re headed.

Peter’s goal is to rack up 30,000 nautical miles, and I want 30,000 followers before he does it!

We are currently sailing to Spain and I'm fantasizing about a medically induced coma. Our tilt-a-whirl is extra whirly today and I am not a happy sailor! If you are curious and want to track us, you can use this link to see where we are.
Stay tuned!
The next newsletter will be from

Lots of love,
