Explore the new era in human history known as the Symbiocene at Purpose 2023. Early bird tickets on sale now until allocation is exhausted . Hi First name / there,
During the closing plenary of Purpose 2022, environmental philosopher Glenn Albrecht, introduced us to the Symbiocene, an idea and a term he coined to describe “the next period in the history of humanity on this Earth". In this we, we exit the Anthropocene and enter the Symbiocene, and see “human culture and technology symbiotically linked to both the structure and processes found in living systems.” Since the concept of the Symbiocene began to seep into our consciousness, we haven’t been able to shake it and it will, in micro and macro ways, inform much of Purpose 2023. The idea perfectly describes the interconnectedness between humans and nature that is vital to a positive future. The journey of imagination that the Symbiocene takes us on provides us with a clear, positive vision of a future that we can all work towards. Some would call this coming era one of growth and innovation. Some would call it a deep remembering. Some call it life-centred design, or the next economy, or regenerative business. Many would say this is not new and that First Peoples (and common sense) have been telling us this all along. It's all of this and more. We all know it's essential, it's coming and best of all.. it's exciting. |

“In the Symbiocene, human action, culture, and enterprise will… enhance mutual interdependence and mutual benefit for all living beings (which is desirable), all species (essential), and the health of all ecosystems (mandatory).”

Our four main themes this year - Regenerative Systems, Climate Adaptation, Transforming Capitalism and Responsible Tech - link together and within the Symbiocene framework. You can’t be at Purpose 2023 without being in the Symbiocene. We’re excited for you to join us, Sally & the team at Purpose |

BIODIVERSITY AND BUSINESS |
|
In 2022, Camille Goldstone-Henry presented at Purpose, sharing her work on Xylo Systems - the company she founded to support those conserving and impacting biodiversity to measure and manage impact. We're excited to announce that Camille has joined Purpose Conference in an advisory capacity. We welcome Camille to the team and look forward to her expertise and input. Lisa Miller, CEO and founder of Wedgetail, has set herself an ambitious target: tackling the $4.1 trillion biodiversity financing gap. Marrying her science-meets-product background (Lisa was formerly Head of Product at Canva), Wedgetail helps finance nature-positive projects to accelerate the earth's regeneration and inspiring others along the way. |

OUR PARTNERS - SAMSARA ECO |
|
The earth holds 8.3 billion tonnes of plastic waste and Samsara Eco's mission is to start using it, and end virgin plastic production. The Australian enviro-tech startup have developed an infinite recycling where enzymes break down plastic, using a process found in nature, and return it to the chemical building blocks used to create new plastic.
Along with their advocacy arm, Sam For Change, they’re on a mission to make a huge impact, quickly. Why do we love them so? • Their recycling results in premium virgin-plastic quality, no matter how many times they are recycled (to infinity, and beyond!) • They decouple fossil fuels from plastics manufacturing. • They operate with a low carbon footprint and no high temperatures • Projections are that they’ll be profitable with the opening of their first factory, in Melbourne in 2024.
Fresh from an exciting announcement with lululemon, we’re pleased to be working with Samsara Eco AKA, Sam for Change (a Certified B Corp) partnering with Purpose 2023. |
