Quilting Cotton, Not Just for Quilts.

“That design is perfect, too bad it's quilting cotton” is a phrase of the past. Make modern, fun clothing and accessories out of whichever quilting cotton you want, just follow a few easy steps!
  1. Keep it simple - look for straight forward patterns that don't need a ton of drape
  2. Pre-wash for a softer finished product
  3. Make sure you have enough fabric, most QC is only 112cm (44") wide
  4. Reduce bulk where possible by using lightweight cotton (i.e. lawn) for facings, linings, plackets, etc.
Still not convinced? Try one of our surefire pattern recommendations:
  1. Willis & Riley Tops from Seamwork
  2. Fairfield Button-up from Thread Theory - works great for short sleeves
  3. Trillium Dress from Made by Rae
  4. Kindling from Tauko No. 8
  5. Hovea from Megan Nielsen
  6. Tamarack from Grainline
  7. Firefly Tote from Noodlehead
  8. Sam Apron from Helen's Closet - free pattern
  9. Kid's Romper from Purl Soho - free pattern
Not all quilting cotton is created equal: Want a lighter weight? Try Art Gallery Fabrics. Looking for a super soft post wash texture? Ruby Star. 100% organic? Look no further than Cloud 9 Fabrics. Now go forth and quilt sew garments!
