THE MRR COURSE DRAMA
MY THOUGHTS ABOUT IT

I didn't want to talk about this because it's a complicated topic and I have yet to form a final opinion on the matter. But as someone who makes a living creating and selling digital products with PLR and MRR license, I'd like to think I have a voice in the matter.

In case you've been living under the proverbial rock, there is a trend sweeping the online business world right now. I shared a poll about it, last week in the Facebook group

Not sure what MRR or PLR is? Listen to the two podcast episodes below:

WHAT'S ALL THE DRAMA ABOUT?
There are currently at least 3 courses being sold with MRR license by its creators. I read the sales page for one of them. Apparently you can buy the course and sell it as you own. As in: you don't even have to tell your customer that you didn't create it. You can claim the content as your own.

There is a second course that once you buy it for $497, you can re-sell it for the same amount to someone else. Then that person can re-sell it… and so on… Or so I'm told. I didn't read the sales page.

The third course, works in the same way as course #2. It was created by two individuals with a large community, and you can send your customer to their community for support.

As you can see, the terms and marketing vary. But the concept is the same.

For more details (and all the tea πŸ«–) you can go to Instagram and search for #MRR or #MRRcourse. You'll find plenty of posts and more info about the situation.

MY OPINION
Still undecided.
While the actual content of the courses might be valuable, the marketing is… icky… and it reminds me of a pyramid style business 🚩.

Businesses are about making money and you can make money any way you want. But I don't want to make money by buying information from someone else, claiming it as my own and positioning myself as an expert in that topic.

It's important to make this point very clear: templates are not the same as information. You put own IP in the templates you purchase from my shop. You have to be the expert in your own topic. I sell the format in which you deliver that IP.

This situation is also not the same as when you license content from another creator to include in your own courses or when you invite a guest speaker to your program. Also, not the same as when you buy copy templates, like the ones Liz Wilcox and Magan Ward create.

What this looks like is plain old β€œbusiness in a box”.

LOCKING ELEMENTS IN CANVA
I recorded a short vid about locking elements in Canva so your customer can't edit/delete/change them and shared it to the Facebook group

While it isn't entirely possible to completely lock elements in Canva, I share with you a quick solution that will make it harder for others to change anything. This is a great trick for those who sell invitations, personalized printables and such.

IT'S THE PEOPLE YOU KNOW
I've been lucky to work with, and get to know, very talented people in the online space, Kim Costa is one of those. She is running a cozy group program around product creation. It's called Making It Happen. I've seen first hand how she turned this brilliant idea into a guided experience.

If you're struggling to finally get a product completed from start-to-finish, she has a solution for you. This is the closest you can get to hand-holding through the entire process. Check it out here

With love,
