Hi {{ subscriber.firstName | default('Friends') }},
Did summer just fly by or what? And now we're two months out from the launch of
WHAT YOU DO TO ME, and I'm getting more and more excited for you to read this story. For those of you who have pre-ordered the paperback, please send me confirmation of your order, along with your mailing address, and I'll send out a personalized bookplate.
So we had a bit of a scare this past week in North Carolina. 1 AM and our phones blared with warning signals to take cover, that we were in the midst of a tornado alert. Having lived in Florida for much of my life, we are experienced in hurricane prep, but the immediacy of the alert didn't lend itself to thoughtful planning. We picked up the dogs and ran downstairs to an enclosed closet. I was in pajamas, no shoes, and the only personal item I grabbed was my mother's charm bracelet. Really poor planning on my part.
As I sat in the closet for those thirty minutes, I could not help but think of the devastation of Maui. And
with the orange glow of what I
thought might be a fire outside our window, I obsessed about the precious belongings, personal artifacts, and lives lost. Snap. That's how quickly things can change. You know me. I'm curious. My mind spins. Have you had any experience with extreme weather? Which personal items would you grab in an emergency, and what preparations have you made for such an event?
