The beginning of a new semester can bring up feelings of excitement for a new start, new classes, new opportunities to get involved in fun things on campus. A new semester can also bring up feelings of nervousness and even dread.
Transitions are hard!
It's normal to worry about how your semester will go, if you will do well in your classes, if you will be able to keep yourself organized and even find time to do things just for YOU. Spend some time NOW determining what is most important to you.
Take a look at your class schedule and see where you have openings. Decide when you will schedule productive time blocks for working. Create at least one time block each day when you feel the most energized + focused and get your most important items done then. Time blocking is a great tool to employ, but it takes practice.
Create a time block for each item:
- Do one thing every day that helps you feel good
- things like drinking water, taking a walk, journaling
- Do one thing every day that brings you joy
- things like watching a movie, hanging out with friends
- Block one hour every day to complete your high priority items
- figure out “how and when” you do your best work and protect those blocks of time!
You will have an amazing semester by establishing your PRIORITIES and keeping a commitment to yourself to STAY FOCUSED on what's most important to you.
