Hi friends,

Here is how I overcame my morning grumpiness when I woke up sleepy and tired after late summer nights:

As soon my eyes open in the morning,  I start saying Thank You.

As soon as my feet hit the ground, I say Thank You.

While walking to the kitchen to turn the coffee machine on, I say Thank You.

Thank you for a new day.

Thank you for giving me a chance to live one more day, to be alive and breathing, and to see one more glorious morning.

Try it; let thank you be your first words of the day and see if you don’t change your state and outlook, especially if you wake up dreading the day ahead.

Remember the many opportunities that are being sent your way every day, the challenges that will only leave you stronger and wiser. Remember the abundance you will tap into as you expand what you believe is possible for you.

I guarantee that you will feel lighter and so blessed.

Dear God, Thank You.

Here is your weekly dose of The Sunday Spark ⚡️ a newsletter listing 5 insightful things I thought were worth starting your week with:

1. đź’ˇ From Derek Sivers: Beware of Advice.

2. 🎵 BJ Fogg, the author of one my favorite habit books, Tiny Habits, and the founder of the Behavior Design Lab at Stanford University, created songs to help kids build good habits; listen on Spotify or YouTube and download the free Parents Guide. My family will be playing these in the car for sure.

3. 🖋️ From Gretchen Rubin: Tips for Building a Writing Routine.  She mentions personality types that I explained in this Instagram Live. Enjoy!

4. 🎧 I have been binging on the Accidental Creative With Todd Henry podcast lately; here is a favorite episode: Time, Tranquility, and Effectiveness with Laura Vanderkam.

5. đź’ Your quote of the week:

“One of the big shifts for me was managing to get out of the habit of assuming ill intent. I used to have a very competitive mindset and expected everyone else to be competitive, too—which meant that was exactly what I saw. I’d pay a lot of attention to signs of potential sabotage, like someone sending a nasty email to my boss about some work I was involved in,” she says. “But now, if I see bad behavior from someone, I don’t assume they’re a bad person—I consider the possibility that they’re just having a bad day. Your assumptions really color what you see and how you react.”
― Caroline Webb, How to Have a Good Day
(Thank you Readwise for helping me find this quote from a book I read)
