Welcome to September! At this time of year, although I am not actually in school anymore, back-to-school energy always convinces me that I definitely need some new notebooks that I will definitely write lots of good ideas in. Anyone else suddenly feeling the urge to invest in new stationery? In today's newsletter, we're talking about our Summer Sale, new fairy tales from Corvid Queen, and our fall workshop line-up for the Sword & Kettle Community Center. Read on for all the latest! |

There are just a few days left in our Super Special Summer Sale! Until September 8, you can use the code BYESUMMER at checkout to get 25% off print books & merch. Sale orders will ship after September 8. We're moving our web shop soon — and you can help us reduce the number of items we need to move over! If you've been wanting a print copy of Bewildered or Nothing Left But Mud, a rad Cup & Dagger enamel pin, or one of our last few Monster Pal t-shirts, this is your chance to snag them on sale! (Looking for our e-books? They've moved to our itch.io storefront while we change over our main shop!) |

In August, we published two new stories and two new poems in Corvid Queen, our 100% free journal of feminist fairy tales! - the animal bridegroom as queercoding by Sara Kass Eifler, a beast of a poem that wonders what's behind all those animal transformation stories
- Summer Apples by Marisa Montany, the story of a queen who's starting to wonder just what her husband saved her from all those years ago
- The Seven Brides of the Robber Bridegroom by Shoshana Groom, which reimagines a classic fairy tale as a prickly true crime yarn
- honeysuckle by Jai Michelle Louissen, a stunning poem that weaves imagery from Celtic mythology into a harmonious whole
We share a new piece every Friday at 10am EST, and our curated archives are always there for you to browse. We invite you to take a gander through our stories! |

I am so excited to share an announcement with you today: we're running some workshops this fall! This round will be a final dress rehearsal for members of our Patreon only, and they'll be open to the public when we run them again in 2024! Here's the workshop line-up: - Tending the Fallow Field: From 9/25-29, you'll receive a daily email with creative prompts for working through writer's block in fun and easeful ways. We'll utilize the Discord to share our responses to prompts.
- Listen to the Muse: From 10/16-20, you'll receive a daily email with creative prompts for finding inspiration in music. The course will conclude with a live session on Saturday, 10/21 from 2-3pm EST.
- Princess Party: On Sunday, 11/5 from 1-2pm EST, we'll meet virtually to write about princesses! Princess fairy tales are some of the most beloved, and we'll take a look at different ways to approach them.
- Collection Caretaker: Exact details are TBD on this one, but Collection Caretaker is all about editing a literary magazine! It'll happen in early December, and we'll share more about the dates and format closer to that time.
If you'd like to join us for our first venture, Tending the Fallow Field, join our Patreon by September 24! You'll also get access to our extensive library of behind-the-scenes posts, and entry to the Sword & Kettle Community Center on Discord. We hope to see you there! |
