“And, all at once, summer collapsed into fall.”

This Month in the Garden

This is a slow month in the garden. The hydrangeas continue to age and shift to a cranberry color, yet the ferns are still going strong. I begin to focus on transitioning from summer to fall by combining elements of both. The ferns will nestle with the pumpkins, gourds and mums, as a preview of what's to come. This is just a touch of autumn that I'll continue to add to as we head toward October.

The tulip bulbs have been ordered and will arrive in time for a late fall planting. More to come on that!

My favorite little nod to the season is placing mini pumpkins above our front door. They are out of reach of the squirrels, so I don't have to worry about them and they just look so cute! Speaking of cute….how about Miss Molly?!

Tailgate
We've Got Spirt. Yes, We Do!

It's the season to gather with friends, sporting the colors of your favorite team before, during and after a big game. In other words, it's time to TAILGATE!

In October, we will be co-hosting a tailgate at my oldest son's college over Family Weekend, so I'm thinking of ways to make it special. After all, it will be our final one.

Whether you are cheering on your school team
(Go Bears!)) or a professional team (Go Chiefs!), a great tailgate is a guaranteed WIN!

LIVING
Big D
I am a Dallas gal… born, bred and raised!

I may live in New York (and previously a lot of other states), but I will ALWAYS be a Dallas gal at heart! A lot of what makes Dallas so special has to do with the people. They are friendly, welcoming and stylish. Women love to get dressed up no matter the activity - and yes, you might even see a fashionable woman in cowboy boots and a chic dress.

I recently saw friends from both coasts (and in between) who were dropping off their freshmen at my alma mater, SMU, which is in Dallas. So, I thought it would be fun to share  a few of my favorite  spots to eat, shop and visit!
