Amid the rise of social video platforms, YouTube and TikTok are leading the way in promoting creator-driven commerce through affiliate programs. Unlike past, clunky attempts by Instagram, creators laud YouTube and TikTok's new commerce initiatives for their ease of use. YouTube's affiliate commerce program allows creators to tag products in videos and earn from sales. Similarly, TikTok Shop lets creators promote products and earn commissions. The key to their success lies in the straightforward process, eliminating the need for third-party links or complicated setups, thus enhancing affiliate commerce performance.

UK-based start-up OnlyFans reported an impressive 24% surge in after-tax profit, standing at $404 million in 2022. This substantial growth was driven by a 17% increase in gross payments made to creators, which rose from $4.8 billion in 2021 to $5.6 billion in 2022. The number of creators increased by 47% to 3.2 million in 2022 while the user base also expanded by 27% to 238.8 million. Despite the platform's growing popularity, the report indicated a market saturation with increased competition amongst creators.

TikTok is reshaping the music industry and discovery of popular songs, becoming a key promotional tool for artists and record labels. Its organic reach can propel even decades-old songs into the mainstream, while influencers can be leveraged to make new releases viral. TikTok is experimenting with features like "Hot 50" and "Viral" song charts and has launched a dedicated music-streaming service, TikTok Music, in five countries. Despite potential tensions with record labels as TikTok expands into artist services, the platform's potential for fostering artist growth and generating revenue is significant.

Streamlining video and written content production can be made easy with AI tools like Dreambooth and Dreamlook for generating YouTube video thumbnails, and Feedly and ChatGPT for curating and summarizing newsletter content. Furthermore, Adobe Premiere's AI editing tools and AutoPod feature can significantly enhance video production. While concerns about AI accuracy and potential misuse persist, the benefits of time-saving and creativity enhancement make these tools invaluable for content creators.
