There may still be two official weeks left, but closing the book on Summer ‘23 feels like a momentous feat. For the first summer in more than 15 years, I didn’t have PTO hours to balance but I did have a toddler on summer break. Accordingly, we strategically ping-ponged up and down the Southeast to keep things moving and grooving. By the end of the summer, said toddler would tell anyone who'd listen that he has two beds - one in Raleigh and one “everywhere else."
In between trips we were library story time regulars, neighborhood playground pirates, and Amazon Prime
If You Give a Mouse a Cookie devotees. I'm also proud of
the client work I managed to fit in, very much made possible by the nanny share we were thrilled to be part of between travel stretches.
Perhaps less remarkable, but no less exciting summer happenings: I scrunched my hair for the first time since high school, using
Ouai's wave spray.
I've read 41 books to date this year. I've worked my way up to 0.05% strength
Tretinoin and fully committed to a
tongue scraper. I contemplated both a bob and a move over to
Substack.
But now, on to fall. If this summer really felt like a summer of yore, this fall's back-to-school vibes also feel heightened, which just means my bank account balance will be lowered: I'm looking for a lady jacket like this
Celine-inspred boucle; dipping my toes, quite literally, into
Sambas (I know they're everywhere, but I live in NC - so they're also nowhere); and also couldn't resist this
toddler barn jacket. I'm sharing more things that give me the fall tingles below.
