The chill in the air of his room tempers the heat I’m generating. He stops once we’re standing next to his bed and turns to face me. Only then do I see the truth. He may seem calm and steady on the outside, but the lust firing through my blood blazes in his eyes.
“I—” His voice is more gravel-laced than usual, and he clears his throat. “Do you have any idea how many times I’ve imagined you here with me?”
My chest heaves with my breath. “No.”
“I’ve lost count.” He anchors one hand on my hip and cups my face with the other.
One step is all it takes to eliminate the sliver of space between us. My breasts brush his chest, and I clench my thighs together to stem the ache that has reached a fever-pitch.
“Sawyer.”
I’m about to go up in flames, and he’s barely touched me.
“We’re only going to do what you feel comfortable with. Your speed,” he reminds me.
I loop my arms around his neck and pull him closer. “Then we’re going too slow.”
Popping up on my toes, I sink my teeth into his lip and tug slightly. It’s a quick caress, but it does the trick. His eyes darken, the deep blue akin to the water of the bay I’ve been fascinated with since we got here.
“You want me to speed up?”
“Yes.”
The word still vibrates between us when his mouth descends on mine. His tongue teases the seam of my lips, and I open on a moan as I drag my fingers through the short hair at the back of his neck. It tickles my palms and adds another layer of sensation.
His hands drift under my sweater, his fingers feathering along the skin just above my pants. I gasp, but I don’t shy away from the touch. I need him closer. He moves a hand to my lower back, pushing me against him and eliminating even the thought of space between us. His kisses are magic. They’re a drug. They’re a current dragging me under. And all I can think of is more.
