Serum: Why this is the skincare step you CANNOT skip.

Your secret weapon
What is a skincare serum?

You aren't alone if you have no clue what a serum really does. Let me break it down for you…
A serum is a blend of highly concentrated active ingredients that target specific skincare concerns. Think of a serum as a laser pointer, whereas your moisturizer is more of a flashlight. Serums penetrate more deeply into the layers of the skin providing much needed nourishment and deepening hydration. Top your serum off with moisturizer and SPF during the day and use a serum topped with moisturizer at night.
Hot Tip: Look for serums that are water based. This will penetrate to the deeper layers of skin doing the most work. If you are using a facial oil or an oil based serum, pop that on top of your moisturizer to seal it in with an added layer of love.

Ingredients to look for:

Hyaluronic Acid: A humectant providing a thirst quenching punch for even the driest skin. Hyaluronic Acid immediately plumps up skin cells visibly improving texture and tone. Found in: Sorella Apothecary Main Squeeze Hydrating Serum, Rhonda Allison Hyaluronic Concentrate,

Vitamin C: Our skin needs Vitamin C along with our bodies! This antioxidant provides protection from free radicals in the environment preventing damage from pollution and the sun. It also helps reverse the appearance of sun spots and even malasma brightening the skin to a healthy glow. Found in: Rhonda Allison C-Stem Cell Serum, Rhonda Allison C Peptide Serum

Bakuchiol: This natural ingredient is called the Swiss Army knife of beauty. It promotes collagen production, encourages cell turnover, lightens dark spots and fights acne. This has become the go-to for more sensitive skin types, even rosacea skin, as an alternative to retinol and unlike retinol, Bakuchiol is pregnancy safe. Found in: Sorella Apothecary Facial in a Bottle.

Retinol: Retinol increases cellular turnover which in turn increases collagen production. This works wonders for fine lines, wrinkles, scarring, hyperpigmentation and acne. No need to get a prescription! Retinol is now available in beautiful over the counter products as well. Found in: Sorella Apothecary Resurfacing Elixir.

Peptides: Peptides are small proteins that penetrate the skin to moisturize it and help smooth fine lines and wrinkles. These little babies have a powerful plumping action making skin appear full and wrinkles less apparent. Found in: Rhonda Allison Peptide 38
