Hi First name / friend,

YAYs to four talented subscribers today!
These children's poets all had poems featured in What is Hope? anthology from Pomelo Books I mentioned in the last newsletter
Enjoy their lovely poems and know that you can do this too. Check today's challenge for a wonderful opportunity and start writing.
Just saying.

on my mind

You know you want to write for children but it can be challenging getting rejection after rejection

Carol Labuzzetta, who is bringing you today's challenge, says, “The difficulty of getting poetry published is one of the reasons I am publishing an Ekphrastic Nature Poetry book for children. I want to provide opportunities not only for myself but for others.”

At the risk of sound life coach-y, but really wanting to sound cheerleader-y, I feel that if you change nothing, nothing is going to change for you
So, have you submitted to an anthology before?
No! Don't avoid my gaze by:
  • checking the cleanliness of your nails
  • letting your eyes skirt to the right (which signals being deceitful in body language, btw)
  • clicking out of this e-mail and filing me away
If the answer is yes, then YAY YOU, and proceed to challenge #6.
If the answer is no, then proceed to challenge #6… and YAY YOU for your clean nails and being brave.

Today, I have something special for you…

Carol Labuzzetta invites you to answer her call for submissions for an Ekphrastic Nature Poetry Anthology for children ages 10 and up before November 1st
Yowzer, this is exciting!

Carol is an environmental educator with a passion for working with children, and introducing them to awe-inspiring observations in the natural world that surrounds them. She's worked with children in educational settings for twenty-two years, helping them to learn in an after-school garden club and writer’s circle. Carol published a chapbook of poetry in 2022.

Never submitted to an anthology before? Fret not, my pets. Carol's submission guidelines are very clear.
They tell you how and what to submit since this anthology requires you to write up to three child-friendly nature poems about scenes you photographed. You can submit your work through this form.

There is a fee of $10.00 for printing costs, and accepted authors will receive one copy of the finished book as payment. Good luck!

P.S. Know of just one person who loves taking photos and writing poetry? Share and take a shot at Carol's anthology together.
