Hi First name / there,
Approximately ⅔ of Americans take at least one prescription medication per day and more than
⅓ of adults over the age of 65 are taking
5 or more medications daily.
This phenomenon known as polypharmacy - the use of multiple drugs or more than are medically necessary - leads to greater health care costs, an increased risk of adverse drug events, negative drug-interactions and a host of symptoms and side effects that require more…prescriptions!
Even more importantly, many medications just make you feel crappy…foggy, tired, nauseated. Who wants that?
If you are caught in the “pill-popping” cycle - whether its prescription meds or OTCs - you aren't the first, nor the last. But it doesn't have to be your reality.
Some medications are necessary and you should never stop taking a necessary medication without consulting your doctor.
But, there are a host of medications you may not need and, with the right plan, you can get off of them.
Until next week,
