Dear First name / friend,

“Somehow we've come to equate success with not needing anyone."
~Brene Brown, The Gifts of Imperfection

Whether you call it independence or pride, I lived by this for a long time. I figured out my way through college and life with little advice/help from others. Isn't that what grown ups do? I taught my children at an early age how to dress themselves and get their own snacks and drink. It wasn't until, I heard my son say; “I don't want your help”  that I realized that I had inadvertently passed on the value of not needing anyone.

Needing someone's help doesn't mean you're weak, less than, or unsuccessful. It's allowing someone to love you. It's being smart enough to acknowledge your limits and learn from others. It's choosing to share your success.

Encouragement
Needing others and wanting to belong is a vital part of leading a healthy life. It is not a sign of weakness. It's a sign of strength. Today, don't be afraid to ask for help.
