01 | YOUTH DEVELOPMENT
According to Angela Duckworth, the true value of grit is that is comes from individual effort and external support. People who exhibit grit are more dependent on other people and rely on coaches, mentors, and teachers for help and feedback. In other words, if we want young people to develop grit, we should help them find and hold on to supportive and demanding adults who can challenge them to do things they can't yet do.

02 | TEEN MENTAL HEALTH
Parenting that supports better youth mental health should include frequent check-ins, validating and discussing emotions, and helping youth maintain consistent bedtime routines.

03 | TEEN MENTAL HEALTH
If you're interested in adolescent well-being, take the time to watch this 8-minute segment by PBS NewsHour. The segment explains why many teens find it hard to sleep and how it impacts their mental health.

04 | CLIMATE CHANGE
According to a recent international survey, climate anxiety is negatively affecting 45% of teens and young adults and can make it more challenging for youth to achieve education or career goals. How can we help? Encouraging young people to participate in some type of collective action can have a positive impact. Educators can also help by informing and teaching youth about environmental sustainability.

05 | STUDENT SUCCESS
Adolescents who feel a sense of belonging at their school tend to exhibit greater resilience when facing setbacks in their academic progress.
