π We started with our biggest wins by sharing the biggest price tag we've ever charged for a single website.
While the numbers varied from $4500 - $9000, after talking we learned two important things.
1. The biggest price tags aren't always the biggest profits (think loss of time, mental health, and more)
2. If it sounds like a colossal project, it will probably be even more work than you can imagine. Charge way more than you feel comfortable with.
β² Then we got into it with a discussion around restart fees and delay charges.
Several folks shared tactics to keep people on tract - including emphasizing deadlines from the beginning and reminders and check-ins.
We talked about the hesitation around charging restart fees and our need to be hard asses sometimes when our time and money is on the line. A delayed project hurts your bottom line. So charge those restart fees!
π¨ We even took a detour to discuss the perceived value of branding packages vs. web design packages.
We collectively agreed that βI just need a logoβ and βI just need a websiteβ is not the vibe.
And we talked about whether it hurt brand designers when brand+web agencies lower the price of branding and increase the price of web in order to encourage clients to actually purchase what they need. (Answer: We're not sure.)
π² We shared about our biggest business investments.
With answers ranging from VA's and photography, to copy and computers, we've all invested in our business! We've all spent anywhere from $2000 to $5000 at a time to buy the things we need in order to grow.
We also shared about things we regretted investing in - like coaches that didn't align with our values and copywriters who didn't deliver what we'd hoped. Investing in your business is a must - but it can also be a hit or miss when you put your trust in someone. We pretty much learned it's not your fault. It happens to everyone.
