Happy Fall! The Summer months held so much excitement and beautiful weather, but harvest time is in the air. In this newsletter we will spotlight a wonderful local winemaker, talk about some EVT Events, and include a schedule for some other great wine events. 

Featured Winery

 

Keith and Trudy Kramer purchased their property in 1983 and plated their first vines in 1984. Their tasting room opened its doors in 1990. Kim Kramer, their winemaker and daughter, is a proud second generation woman winemaker and grape grower. Becky Kramer, is another proud Kramer daughter, and the general manager of their family operation. 

Kramer Vineyards boasts a list of wines that is truly impressive in both taste and quality. They also have some unique varietals that we have yet to see in our adventures into the hidden gems of Oregon wines. 

 

Growing up in the wine industry as the eldest daughter of the Kramer family, Kim Kramer initially had no interest in continuing the family business. However, her passion for sparkling wine and Pinot Noir was sparked while working at an Oregon winery in her mid-20s. After further education and experience in the wine industry, Kim joined the family business in 2008, eager to contribute to the family legacy. In 2010, she assumed the role of head winemaker and has since overseen all aspects of winemaking, from harvest to bottling, with a keen eye for the nuances of our 22-acre estate's microclimates and vintage variations. Beyond her love for crafting exceptional wines, Kim is passionate about educating others on the complexities and joys of wine. She often hosts tastings and events at the winery, sharing her expertise with guests worldwide. As a second-generation winemaker, she is proud to carry on her family's tradition of excellence and innovation in winemaking.

While we (Ed and Erin) were experiencing the relaxing and beautiful property at Kramer Vineyards, we were able to taste many of their wines. We immediately fell in love with these two, and simply couldn't choose just one to feature. Because of our indecision and slight obsession with these beautiful and unique wines, we decided to have our very first double feature!

Oregon is home to an active and exciting wine culture. Throughout the year, a number of wine related events take place right in our backyard. It is our goal to spread the word and support our local wine community while introducing individuals to a side of wine that they may not have seen before!
