We are continuing to receive positive feedback from businesses regarding the BID’s Street Patrol team. Not only are they assisting store teams to recover a huge amount of stollen goods each month, but they are also carrying out fantastic work sharing intelligence and helping to monitor ongoing anti-social behaviour issues in city centre hotspots.
In recent times it has become increasingly difficult to spot potential shop lifters. With the cost-of-living crisis affecting so many, customers who may never have considered shoplifting before are now taking their chances.
Street Patrol Officer, James said, “We see certain trends at different times in the year. One store recently reported that school uniform was being targeted due to increased demand at the beginning of the school year. With Christmas fast approaching, we are likely to see a rise in perfume and gift sets being stolen. We urge you to consider where high value items are displayed within your store.
