George Washington University did a study about what kids find fun about sports -- and the results were kind of surprising. 

 

The top reasons kids gave for enjoying sports included everything from “trying your best” and “getting play time” to “playing with friends” and “feeling supported by parents.”

 

But can you guess where “winning” ranked in this list of reasons why kids think playing sports is fun? 

 

“Winning” came in at number 48! Obviously not the “why” behind sports (for most kids anyway). 

 

We think this is important to remember as our families enter another season of school, extracurricular activities, and competitive sports. Feeling safe, supported, and connected with others really is the most important factor in whatever our kids are doing.
