Welcome to our October newsletter.
This month we observe Black History Month. From the ongoing legacy of Windrush and the turmoil of the 50’s race riots, to the music and colour of the annual Notting Hill carnival, the area around North Kensington, where Nova is based, is steeped in black history and culture.
In this issue, we’ve included two events taking place in the local neighbourhood, both offering insights into black history. Some of it is poignant and hard-hitting, but with knowledge and truth comes, hopefully, enlightenment. So, why not sign up, join in and learn more about an important part of our society's history.
Nova has always felt proud to work with, and within, our diverse local community, evolving our offering in response to its needs. Alongside our grassroots services
(Nova Roots) covering education, advice and family support, we have developed our social change programme (
Nova Reach) providing opportunities for marginalised voices to connect with others across societal barriers, to challenge prejudice and help build mutual understanding and social cohesion.
