The days were blurred, I was a new mom trying to navigate staying at home and leaving my career to raise my beautiful new son. I was alone during the week with no family and no friends with children in San Diego. The colic began at week 4 and lasted for about 6 months.
How did people find help and manage on their own with no sleep? What could I do to get some peace and quiet? Where would I find help? I spoke to my physicians, still the same amazing team at Coast Pediatrics in Del Mar, explored ideas with my husband and relied on my cousins on the east coast. I was burnt out by week 8.
I tried reaching out to agencies in town to find some temporary safe babysitting support-there was NOTHING. My entire career was dedicated to recruiting and staffing. I worked with large and small companies to solve staffing solutions so why not solve my own problem? That is what I do after all. I hired a part-time nanny on my own to get some sanity, and within 6 months created the vision and foundation for Crunch Care. So much for being a stay-at-home mom.
This year that little guy who screamed all day long for 6 months is graduating high school and going off to college (I tell you this with tears of complete joy). I have two more right behind him.
We have evolved over the years at Crunch Care to create sanity in a variety of ways for families-from temporary nannies, to long-term solutions, and now to our latest self-service product THE LIST. We strive to find a fit for everyone from families with demanding work schedules to the stay-at-home mom or dad who needs to do a little self-care.
Let us allow our wisdom to help you.
