National BIDs Conference 2023
On Thursday 2nd November, Deputy BID manager, Lyndsay took a trip to London to attend the National BIDs conference. British BIDs host the annual event in order for BID managers, suppliers and agencies who work closely with BIDs to get network together, receive updates and watch presentations on various subjects relating to BIDs.
The afternoon session focused on all things security, with BID managers from Epson and Bristol sharing how they work with their businesses to tackle crime and work with police colleagues to share intelligence. Hannah Wadey, Chief Executive Officer, Safer Business Network also spoke about the importance of sharing intelligence via apps such as Disc and Sentry SIS. As Coventry BID are just on the cusp of rolling out the Sentry SIS app, it was great to hear success stories from other BID that use similar platforms.
The final session of the afternoon provided an opportunity to hear directly from levy payers and find out, ‘What do national businesses expect of BIDs?’ Yasmine McNamara, UK Security Project Manager, Tesco and Clark Dunstan, Divisional Licensing & Development Manager, William Hill spoke about the importance of BID teams connecting directly with store managers to provide support at store level and with area managers and head offices to understand their strategic approach.
The day was fantastic and it was encouraging to hear that the approach we’re taking to build a more connected business community has seen excellent results in other BIDs that have implemented similar strategies.
