Hi, First name / Friend! When you were here for your color appointment, I used my color wheel to show you the science behind our process of determining your best color palette, aka “season”. One of the things I typically do NOT share during that time (hello information overload!!) is why the color wheel is set up the way it is with 3 rings of color. Yep, you guessed it…there is a method to this madness!! While your fan is set up by color family, the color wheel is set up to showcase how you might combine your colors. 🤯 I'm going to use the Autumn section of the wheel to demonstrate how this works, but it applies regardless of your season. |
The innermost arc of the wheel contains the neutrals of your season. These colors all work great together and can be used in unlimited combinations with every other color in your palette. |
The middle arc contains the basics. These colors all mix and match with each other, and of course with your neutrals. The inner and middle arcs can be combined however you'd like and will all look fabulous together. |
The outermost arc of the color wheel contains the accent colors of your season. Any single color from this arc can easily mix and match with any of your neutrals or basics, however they may not always look as great when mixed with other accent colors. It's why I emphasize the 3 points of red during your color session and why you wouldn't wear a red lip with a pink or coral top; it often looks “off”. That said, there are people who love pushing the color envelope and they mix their points of red. Remember, these are guidelines, so you do you, have fun and wear what you love! |

Our lawyer wants us to let you know that some of the links in our emails and blogs are affiliate links and if you shop through them we might make a few pennies. Or we might not. This stuff is totally unpredictable. But mostly, we want you to know that we only recommend companies and brands that we love and use ourselves. We're shoppers, too. Pinky-swear promise. P.S. I've done my very best to verify the colors but sometimes colors vary from photo to real life…please verify purchases with your color fan upon receipt. |
