We had a whirlwind of an October. We capped the month with two amazing celebrations of Halloween – like only we know how to do! Our police department outdid themselves and showed yet again why they’re the best with Trunk or Treat last week. Halloween on Rugby Ave. was another event not to be missed. We had trick-or-treaters from near and far come to enjoy the festivities. The street was full of excitement and the weather was near perfect. We have such a talented group of individuals who choose to lend their talents and expertise to our great city. I want to take the time to highlight two of them. Recently our Chief Information Officer, Michael Hicks, was honored with the Hershel Strickland Award by GMIS International. The award recognizes Mr. Hicks’s dedication to the organization and his commitment to furthering Government Management Information Sciences. Additionally, our very own Mercedes Miller, Executive Director of the GICC and the Gateway Center Arena, has been recognized by The Stevie Awards as a Finalist in the 20th annual Stevie Awards for Women in Business – Female Executive of the Year. Her service to our city is unparalleled – and now it’s been recognized on a global stage! We have so much to be proud of and thankful for in College Park. I hope you and yours have a safe, happy Thanksgiving! |

October was a month of Celebration and Community! The 7th Annual Ward 4 Citywide Festival kicked off the month with a spectacular tribute to southern legends, featuring awards, vendors, music, and special guests like the Harlem Globetrotters and Vivica Fox! We ended the month with the biggest Trunk or Treat event in Georgia, where our council members dressed up and joined the spooky fun with bags of candy. |
