My shop opening, and a trip to Texas and back! |
My Holiday Shop opens one week from today! I'm so excited to offer you access to my collection of iridescent diamonds. |
I have a limited amount - 100 exactly. These babies are THE diamonds which comprised my Vital Cloud public art installation which stood in downtown Chapel Hill, North Carolina for one month last summer as apart of the inaugural Uproar public arts festival! |
Equally as exciting - I'll be offering my new DIY Kits for sale for the very first time in my Holiday Shop! |
Last year the kits were a hit. I truly believe that this edition is even more special. Allow me to explain… |
Affectionately called “Cool Qubes”, these shapes are currently in the prototyping phase for large-scale sculptural installation using acoustic felt. |
A couple of weeks ago I traveled to Texas - well actually, I was flown first class to Texas - to meet with with industry leaders and fabrication partners to discuss a potential Folded Poetry acoustic product line (YAY!!) |
Exploring acoustics became significant to me after my car crash and traumatic brain injury in 2018. Ever since, I've struggled with auditory overwhelm. (To learn more about my journey as an artist and maker, visit my website by clicking the button below!) |
During my Texas visit, I was able to see my designs being cut in real time out of acoustic felt! |
Straight off the bed, I folded and assembled the shapes myself! What a dream come true! |
The result was truly magical! These are the Qubes - human scale! |
Just to the left of me in this photo (above) is the mobile shown below, made out of my DIY kit! |
This mobile serves as the concept behind what we seek to achieve - suspended acoustic Qubes as sculptural art which is both beautiful and functional. |
Can you imagine these Qubes floating in an atrium space? |
I'm so excited to offer you the opportunity to play with shapes and gift imagination this Holiday season. Your purchase is ownership in the exciting things ahead for Folded Poetry! |
That's all for now! I'll reach back out next week about the shop opening, until then, much love to you my friends! |
