Carcassonne

Hey, First name / friend. Have you started your Christmas shopping yet? If you have little ones, this month is designed just for you! I'll be doing a sort of crossover event. Carcassonne is one of our favorite games and our kids love it as well. There's a kid's version that my 5-year-old loves and my 3-year-old is starting to follow, too. If you don't have little kids, you can scroll down to the next block.

In the kid's version, My First Carcassonne, you draw a tile and place it adjacent to any tile on the board. All tiles have a road connection on each side, so you can't place it incorrectly. It's played with 2-4 players. You each choose a color. When a road is completed and you have a person on it, you place your meeple on top of it. Below are a couple of examples where you can see completed roads and incomplete roads with people walking on them. Once you've used all of your meeples, you win!

This one is great for teaching young kids strategy. We talk about where his people are and how to close a road. He often ends up winning, even though I'm trying to close my roads. Highly recommend if your kids are 4-8 years old.

In the original version of Carcassonne, you are working on roads and cities. It's a great game for anyone that loves just a little bit of strategy. We have been playing this one for 4 years and introduce it to people often. There are several expansions for this one, so we pick and choose what rules we want to play by for each game, making it as complicated as we want.

One of the big differences between the kids and adult version is that you'll keep playing until you run out of tiles. Once a road or city is closed, you'll score your points and take your meeple back. If you haven't played this one before, I can't recommend it enough. It's great for board game addicts or newbies, up to 5 players.

That's Carcassonne in a nutshell. What do you think? Let me know whenever you try this one or if you have any questions.

Use my link below to grab 'em up (Amazon pays me a little for each purchase from these links… which will probably go back into more board games. 🙈)

Happy playing!
