November 2023 IN MEMORY OF KELLY AND NOAH ROSEBERRY This month’s message is a special way to honor our veterans and someone in particular who impacted veterans nationwide. It is with the greatest sadness and disbelief that I tell you Kelly Rosesberry, VP of Programming and the COO at the Travis Mills Foundation retreat, and her baby boy, Noah, died in childbirth in Maine on October 28. Kelly was 38. She leaves behind Chris, her husband, retired Army, and the Facilities Manager at the Travis Mills Foundation retreat, and their daughter Emma, 3. Kelly was a powerhouse and someone who fiercely protected all of the recalibrated veterans with whom she worked. She brought out the best in all of them as they took their journey to their “new normal.” |

Kelly was a Physical Therapist at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center when quadruple amputee Travis Mills was a patient. She helped get him “on his feet” and walking. “Never Give Up. Never Quit.” became their mantra. Travis shared his vision to build a retreat for recalibrated veterans and their families in Maine and make it the best retreat in the country. Kelly shared his vision and 6 years ago, she and Chris made the move to Maine to begin building what today is the finest retreat, hands down, for veterans and their families in the USA. OHT also shared the vision and made what became the first donation to the Travis Mills Foundation retreat. OHT now makes an annual donation that allows 35-40 veterans and family members to attend OHT Week. Kelly was “all in” when the Health and Wellness Center was going to be built. I remember her saying, not once, not twice but maybe 100 times, to anyone who would listen, that they were not going to be able to expand the number of weeks they could accommodate veterans and their families if they didn’t have a commercial washer and dryer. Funny at the time, but she was right. And guess what? There’s now a new commercial washer and dryer. |

Kelly so wanted to be a BOY Mom. After all, Chris was a GIRL Dad. She loved Chris, Emma, her family, her job, and the community that loved her right back. Life is so damn fragile but this one really hurts. What I do know, though, is that the Maine community and far beyond will wrap their arms around Chris and Emma and help however they can. And that includes OHT, who is right around the corner and willing to do anything we can to help. So hold your loved ones tight, tell them you love them, and be kind and generous. In lieu of flowers, Chris has asked that donations be made to the Travis Mills Foundation. You can donate through the link below. We love you and Emma, Chris! Warm Regards, Dot |
