Castle Panic

Hey, First name / friend. How is your Christmas shopping going? We still have a few things we are wanting to grab, but we have most of it done. This week I'm continuing with the kids & adult recommendation. First, I'll talk about the kid's version, My First Castle Panic. If you don't have little ones, just skip down to the next text block.

My First Castle Panic is a cooperative game for 1-4 players, it takes about 15-20 minutes, and it's designed for ages 4 & up. Charlie is 3 years and 4 months old and he can play with us. What I love about this game is that you can talk about colors, shapes, and matching. That part is super awesome for a 3-year-old.

The goal is to defeat the monsters before they smash your castle. The above picture shows the set up. 3 monsters start on the board and each player gets a card. On your turn you draw a card, then play a card (one of yours or ask for help from another player) matching one of the monster's spaces on the board. Then you'll send that monster to the dungeon (the box shown above). Then all the monsters move forward one space and you add a new monster to the board. If a monster reaches the castle, the first wall falls, killing the monster. If it happens again, the game is over and you lose. You keep taking turns until you defeat all the monsters or the castle walls fall.

My kids enjoy this one. It does a great job teaching them strategy and teamwork, with the added fun of monsters! What do you think? Would you try it?

Once your kids are around 8 years old, you can upgrade to Castle Panic. It's played with 1-6 players and takes about 45 minutes. It has a lot of similarities to the children's game. There are monsters trying to attack your castle. Instead of one wall, there are six sides to your castle. Each monster needs attacked 1 to 3 times, depending on its strength. It's still a cooperative game in which you play cards to defeat all the monsters before they enter and destroy your entire castle. If you manage to do defeat them before they defeat you, then you will determine a winner. Each monster gives a point value. The person with the most points is the winner! Be on the lookout in each game for some curveballs!

That's Castle Panic in a nutshell. What do you think? Let me know whenever you try this one or if you have any questions.

Stay tuned for party games in December!

Use my link below to grab 'em up (Amazon pays me a little for each purchase from these links… which will probably go back into more board games. 🙈)

Happy playing!
